General Description

X-Gal is a chromogenic substrate for β-galactosidase that produces a rich blue color that can easily be detected visually over background. It is soluble in dimethylformamide and methanol. The product is not soluble in water.

Application

Preparation Note

Working solution: Stock solution:

Storage conditions (working solution):X-gal in solution (i.e.,dissolved in DMF 2% (w/v)) is stable for several weeks when stored in the dark at 2 to 8 °C; when the solution is stored at -15 to -25 °C, it is stable for one year.
