Background Information
Jumonji domain-containing protein 2D (JMJD2D) is also called Lysine-specific demethylase 4D and JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 3D. JMJD2D is a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates both di- and trimethylated H3 Lys-9, but not monomethylated histone H3 Lys-9 residues. JMJD2D also does not demethylate histone H3 Lys-4, H3 Lys-27, H3 Lys-36 or H4 Lys-20.
