| Background Information | NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2) is a transcription activator that binds to antioxidant response elements (ARE) in the promoter regions of target genes. NF-E2-related factor 2 mediates the coordinated up-regulation of genes in response to oxidative stress. NF-E2-related factor 2 may also be involved in the transcriptional activation of genes of the beta-globin cluster. NF-E2-related factor 2 is widely expressed, with highest expression in adult muscle, kidney, lung, liver and fetal muscle. |
