| Background Information | Zinc finger and SCAN domain containing protein 4, also called Zscan4, is an embryonic stem (ES) cell-specific transcription factor required to regulate pluripotency. Zscan4 binds and regulates telomere elongation in order to maintain genomic stability and acts as an activator of spontaneous telomere sister chromatid exchange (T-SCE) in undifferentiated ES cells. |
