AG Scientific Lovastatin, 100 MG

Lovastatin is a cell-permeable inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase) derived from Aspergillus terreus. By inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, lovastatin impedes biosynthesis of mevalonic acid. This effect, in turn, reduces the synthesis of cholesterol in the human body.

Lovastatin is used in clinical medicine as a treatment for high cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. It can also be used to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis or to slow the progression of the condition in patients who have already developed it. Recent research into lovastatin and statin drugs in general has focused heavily on the adverse effects of these drugs on skeletal muscle and tendon tissues.
