Tyrphostin (AG 1478) has been demonstrated to be a selective and potent inhibitor of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), with an IC of about 3nMin vitroin a variety of cell lines. In addition to EGFR, AG 1478 also inhibits ErbB4 activation induced by radiation in cancer cells. Testing of it alone or in combination with other treatments to assess anti-tumor and anti-fibrotic effectiveness has yielded promising results.
