Easy-to-use unit provides “controlled rate” freezing samples at approximately -1°C per minute, which is needed to prevent lethal intracellular freezing and successful cryopreservation. Prior to inserting vials, the unit should be filled with 250ml of 100% isopropyl alcohol. Once the samples have been inserted the unit should be placed in a -80°C mechanical freezer.
