Background	Oxidation resistance 1 (OXR1) protein is a cellular oxidative stress sensor that regulates expression of signaling proteins involved in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis (1). Depletion of OXR1 plays a role in oxidative stress associated with neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinsons disease, diabetic retinopathy, hyperoxia induced retinopathy, and neuronal damage (2). OXR1 also plays a role in cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage (3,4), and is upregulated in cells undergoing senescence (5). OXR1 is a target of the senolytic agent, piperlongumine, and its analogues (5).
