Background	Serine/threonine protein phosphatase 2A regulatory subunit 4 (PPP2R4) is one of the constituents of the regulatory subunit B of PP2A (1). PPP2R4 is also known as the phosphatase activator (PTPA) and known to have the peptidyl prolyl isomerase (PPIase) activity (2-3). PPIases catalyze cis-trans isomerization of peptide bonds of proline residues in the polypeptide chain; this leads to the rapid folding of proteins (2). The ATPase activity of PPP2R4 is required for the phosphotyrosyl phosphatase activity of PP2A (2-4). Evidence suggests that PPP2R4 induces apoptosis independent of the canonical PP2A-mediated pathways (4).
