Background	Protein phosphatase magnesium/manganese-dependent 1 gamma (PPM1G) is a metal-dependent protein phosphatase belonging to the PP2C/PPM family of Ser/Thr phosphatases. PPM1G is a ubiquitously expressed enzyme that binds magnesium/manganese cations in its active center (1). Research studies have demonstrated that PPM1G acts on numerous substrates to participate in a diverse array of biological processes, such as cell cycle control, protein translation, and antiviral innate immune signaling (2-4). In the context of human disease, PPM1G is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma and may contribute to disease by enhancing cell proliferation and migration (5,6).
