Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties.TdTomato is a fluorescent, photostable orange dye that was isolated from and further engineered from the Discosoma sea anemone (1). Reported to be six times brighter than EGFP, TdTomato is comprised of a tandem dimer of monomers engineered from DsRed; the dimers are held together by intramolecular bonds. For this reason, TdTomato is considered a monomer. Its peak fluorescent excitation is at 554 nm and emission is at 581 nm (1). |
