Background	Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 24 (ZBTB24), also called ZNF450, is a DNA-binding protein initially found to be expressed in response to BMP-2 signaling (1). ZBTB24 along with CDCA7 play a role in DNA methylation by recruiting the HELLS chromatin remodeling complex to centromeric satellite repeats (2). Mutations in ZBTB24 are linked to immunodeficiency and centromeric instability, and facial anomalies syndrome type 2 (ICF2) (3,4). ZBTB24 is recruited to DNA breaks by PARP1 and promotes assembly of the LIG4/XRCC4 complex, resulting in error free non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) (5). ZBTB24 has also been shown to play a role in trophoblast proliferation through the methylation of E-cadherin (6)
