Ertugliflozin is an inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2; IC50 = 0.927 nM for the human enzyme). It is selective for SGLT2 over SGLT1 (IC50 = 2,050 nM for the human enzyme). Ertugliflozin increases urinary glucose excretion in rats in a dose-dependent manner. Formulations containing ertugliflozin have been used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
