| Description | Anti-Arp2/3 complex Antibody, clone 13C9 |
| Alternate Names |

| Background Information | The Arp2/3 complex, which contains ARP2, ARP3, ARPC1B/p41-ARC, ARPC2/p34-ARC, ARPC3/p21-ARC, ARPC4/p20-ARC and ARPC5/p16-ARC, plays a major role in the regulation of the actin polymerization in the cytoskeleton. Two of complexs seven subunits (ARP2 and ARP3) closely resemble monomeric actin and serve as nucleation sites for new actin filaments. The Arp2/3 complex works in conjunction with an activating nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) to aid in the formation of branched actin networks. The regulation of actin cytoskeleton reorganization is important for processes like cell migration, phagocytosis, and intracellular motility of lipid vesicles. |

| Entrez Gene Number |
|
| Entrez Gene Summary | This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. The Arp2/3 protein complex has been implicated in the control of actin polymerization in cells and has been conserved through evolution. The exact role of the protein encoded by this gene, the p21 subunit, has yet to be determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. |
